On Friday, November 21, 2014, I had the great pleasure and honour to join 90 other amazing individuals from across Canada and be inducted into the inaugural cohort of the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists. Representing individuals within 15 years of completion of their PhD, who are working in all areas and disciplines of Canada, the College is an exciting new venture to bring people together during very productive times in their career to work together on pressing issues and forge new inter- and multi-disciplinary relationships. The individuals in this group are incredibly inspiring, and it was both humbling and exciting to meet with everyone.
I am also particularly excited to be the new Fellowship Officer for the RSC Atlantic Group, which brings together all the College Members and Fellows from the Atlantic Region, and focuses on outreach, research, and community-building activities that are important to the region. It’s an amazing group of people, and I’m excited to be working with them.
I was also lucky to be accompanied to the event by Dr. Dale Keefe, VP Academic and Research at Cape Breton University, who took these two shots and tweeted them during the event.
